Inside The Archives

Grace Campbell’s debut novel, Thorn-Apple Tree, was one of the earliest works of fiction written by a Canadian to be published by William Collins Sons & Co. Canada Ltd. The cover of the White Circle Pocket Edition was illustrated by Franklin Carmichael, who also provided illustrations for the interior. This contract for Thorn-Apple Tree was signed in May 1942 in Toronto.
