What I like the most when I read books are the surprise endings. We’re all hardwired to enjoy being surprised. It’s why our presents are wrapped. It’s why we don’t want to know in advance how the movie is going to end. It’s why we read books and keep turning the pages. Deep inside of all of us, we want to be seized by something bigger and more beautiful than we’ve already experienced.
Thank you for the many books and countless words which have seized us and shaped us over the last two centuries. The stories you have brought to the world will outlast us all.
