Jacqueline Winspear

I read because I love language, the way the joining of words and the rhythm of a story can make me laugh, cry, or take me out of my world or immerse me in the lives of others. I read because to read is a gift.

I write for the same reason—I love the way I can weave a story, and in so doing can entertain, provoke, inform, challenge, and—ultimately—connect with others.

At age sixteen, The Great Gatsby opened my eyes to another way of writing—it was so unlike the classics I’d read in earlier years.
