I write because I want answers. I want to know why people do things, from the delightfully ordinary to the monstrously extreme. I want to understand why people fall in love and how they can break each other’s hearts. I want to know why some people wound so casually while others—against all odds—somehow choose a kind and generous path. I write to discover how it will all turn out. So that I can understand my own past and have hope for our collective future.
