Writing is the one pursuit I have always pursued, and always known I was compelled to pursue. It offers the illusion of stopping the sand from slipping through my fingers. It makes me feel connected to the world, and more deeply part of it. It makes it possible for me to share with my sisters and brothers on this planet what I abhor and what I love; what degrades us and what ennobles us. It allows me to refashion life, and to create life, and to make it more satisfying on the page than it has been to witness.
