Barometer Rising
The first novel published by Hugh MacLennan, as well as the first book published by William Collins Sons & Co. Canada Ltd. MacLennan was one of Canada’s most significant novelists of the mid-twentieth century, but Barometer Rising was banned in most Canadian high school libraries because of the vulgarity of its language.
