I grew up in Montana on stories around the campfire so it’s no surprise that I love to read—and write my own. Whether reading or writing, I’m transported. I drop into the lives of the characters and live with them for a while. That world becomes more real than my own. Once I was writing a blizzard scene at my office. Later, I couldn’t find my coat. I knew I wouldn’t have left home without one, not in the middle of winter. So real was the blizzard, that I’d forgotten it was summer outside. That’s what reading and writing does to me. It immerses me in that imaginary world, pulling me in until I am a part of it.
