A book that influenced me and why . . . Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume was incredibly influential to me as a child. It was the first book I read where I experienced that sublime sensation of feeling totally and completely understood by another person. Margaret got me; she spoke for me. And that’s what both reading and writing are all about.
