Sympathy telegram to Coretta Scott King following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.
The day after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (April 5, 1968), Harper honorary director Cass Canfield sent this telegram to his widow, Coretta Scott King, expressing his condolences: “All the world mourns the passing of this great man and wonderful person.” Harper & Brothers published King’s Stride Toward Freedom: The Montgomery Story (1958) and Strength to Love (1963).
